Big Stretch

When you start to study something new or learn any new skill at first it is a stretch.

As time goes by we find ourselves getting used to what was at first difficult. The more we practise a new learnt skill the better we become at it until it is so embedded in our sub-conscience that we don't even need to think about it any more.

It is something that most people would be aware of.

The thing is we need to persist long enough to get to the point where it is easy.

There are many people who do this.

It could be as simple as learning to ride a bike, a skateboard, learning to ski or kite board.
It could be something more complex like starting a business or getting a degree.

I would say most people would have done these type of things.

I don't think most people keep learning new things.
There are a lot of people who play a musical instrument but not many can play them all. You see what I am saying, we will do so much and then stop for whatever reason.

There is a whole other side of the argument to say why would you want to learn a huge amount of skills but not have the time to be excellence in any one skill.

That is a very good point.

Really it is the same as learning a new skill.

As I have said before I am passionate about playing drums. In the beginning it was difficult for me to learn to play, but it did get to a point where it was easy. Now at this point i could go to the drums anytime I wanted and start playing.

Could I play drums?  Yes but not very well.

With what ever you do you will find plateaus and pushing beyond there can be as difficult as learning the skill in the first place.

Now I know people can be naturally talented at certain things and I would strongly encourage you to do the things that you are good at. Even the things we are born to do take work if we want to be the best rather that just average.

What ever it is you want to do, learn a new skill or become excellent at some thing you already do well.

Always be learning, it will keep your mind active, you will feel younger and you will live an exiting life.

Enjoy your Life,

Dave
