Contrasts

Contrasts are what we have to cope with in everyday life.

Today I received the news that my Father need major surgery and I have my grand children helping put up the Christmas tree.

If you were to ask how my day was I would say I had a great day.

Was there troubling news?

Yes, but there is good and bad news everyday.

No matter what happens, life goes on and there is great joy in life.

I could have easily focused on the negatives today and therefore had a devastating day. There is always something in your day that is wonderful. If you are not looking for it, you could miss it.

How tragic that would be!

You will never get this day again so why not enjoy it?

Many would say that putting up a Christmas tree is something minor and hearing news about your Father needing major surgery is something major.

The fact is the time I had with my grand children was great. We had so much fun together getting ready for Christmas is such an exciting time for children. There is so much joy to be gained by spending time with happy children.

Yes I did get news about my Father but it was something I was expecting. I do care about him but that does not mean I need to be unhappy.

You see, life is actually a great joy in all situations!

Yes I said ALL

We tend to think pain is something bad and should be avoided at all cost.

I disagree.

There are many very wealthy people out there who choose to go on a difficult trek. Climbing mountains or walking difficult trails for days on end is painful. In that pain there is found great satisfaction, great achievement and great joy.

People may live a life of luxury but it is the moments of hardship that they will remember. These time of persistence and break through will be the times talked about and fondly remembered around the dinner table. Not the times sitting in a comfortable chair with all the luxury you could imagine.

So when something challenging next happens to you.

Look for joy.

Look for strength.

Look for purpose.

Have fun with your life.

Don't take it too seriously.

Remember no one gets out alive.

Enjoy your Life,

Dave.
